Aadi effect: Rush for last minute registrations

Property-Buying

NEELANKARAI: The sub-registrar office at Neelankarai saw a rush of land- and building-based registrations on Friday. July 14,  as the month of Aadi, traditionally considered ill-suited for new purchases, begins Monday.

With the expected benefits of the decrease in guideline value has nearly been nullified by the increase in registration tax, buyers who had hitherto waited to register their land or house have gone ahead with the purchase. Friday saw a last minute rush across many registrar offices.
